ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. —

After nine years of service, explosive detection Military Working Dog, Yyoda/P195, honorably retires from the military, September 11, 2019, at Altus Air Force Base, Okla. Yyoda began his training as a MWD in San Antonio, Texas, in 2010. After graduating from bomb school on June 18, 2010, Yyoda was assigned to his first duty station at Altus AFB. Yyoda has been assigned to the 97th Air Mobility Wing for nine years and has excelled in his profession of explosive detection. Yyoda is now going to live with his previous handler, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Ashley Boren, a MWD handler assigned to the 647th Security Forces Squadron, at Hickam AFB, Hawaii – a true retirement destination. Since Ashley was not able to make the ceremony herself, her parents, Robin and Kim Boren, were handed Yyoda’s leash during the ceremony and will be flying with Yyoda to Hawaii so he can be with his new owner. After the retirement ceremony, Yyoda received his first bone in celebration of nine years of excellent service to his country.
