Air Force Announces 2014 Sijan Award Winners
8/18/2015 – JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas — Air Force officials have announced the winners of the 2014 Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award.
The Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award is named in honor of the late Capt. Lance P. Sijan, an Air Force Academy graduate and combat pilot, who was posthumously, awarded the Medal of Honor for his intrepidity while evading capture by the North Vietnamese and during his subsequent captivity as a POW. The Sijan Award annually recognizes four Airmen who demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities. Officer and enlisted honorees are chosen in senior and junior categories.

Lt. Col. Stephen Matthews, 49th Air Refueling Squadron, Air Mobility Command, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas.
