On September 28, 2005, while providing convoy security near Camp Bucca, Iraq, A1C Jacobson was killed by an enemy improvised explosive device.

A1C Jacobson, 21 a native of Riviera Beach, FL was assigned to the 17th Security Forces Squadron at Goodfellow AFB, TX.  A1C Jacobson served in the Air Force for two years and in Iraq for more than three months.  She is the first woman killed in the line of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the first woman Air Force Security Forces Member Killed in Action (KIA) since the Vietnam War.
